Gray Hair Care – My Trusted Routine

Today, I’m sharing my daily routine for caring for gray hair. Maybe you’ll find some inspiration here!

I’ve always chosen gentle shampoos and conditioners (or masks) with good ingredients. I avoid “bad ingredients” like SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate), alcohol, and unnecessary dyes. For me, simplicity and effectiveness are key – and my hair appreciates it!

My Golden Rule:

  • I choose shampoo based on my scalp’s needs,
  • And conditioner based on my hair type.

Why? Because no shampoo can make your hair shine if you neglect your scalp and hair follicles. Healthy hair starts at the roots! And conditioner? For my wavy (sometimes even slightly curly) hair, it has to hydrate, add bounce, and help it look beautifully styled.

How Do I Wash My Hair?

  1. I start by thoroughly wetting my hair.
I apply a small amount of shampoo to my hands, mix it with a bit of water, and massage it into my scalp.
  2. I wash twice.
The first wash cleanses, while the second creates more lather and ensures better results. Don’t forget to rinse out the shampoo completely!
  3. Conditioner goes only on the lengths of my hair.
I apply it to the lower part of my hair, never the scalp. Then, I scrunch and squeeze my hair to define the waves. After a few minutes, I rinse it with cool or even cold water. This helps seal the hair cuticles, leaving my strands smoother and shinier.
  4. Gentle drying.
I gently squeeze out excess water and wrap my hair in a microfiber towel – but only for a moment.

What’s Next?

After every wash, I apply my DIY herbal lotion to my scalp. This little ritual includes a relaxing massage to stimulate the roots and nourish my hair from the base. I love experimenting with different products, but I always stick to ones that suit my hair’s needs: wavy, soft, and washed every three days (thanks to all the training sessions!).

Recommended Products

Here I showcase the products I currently use (NOW), before I also used products from the Polish brand Tołpa, including their masks. Before my vacation, I also tested solid shampoos – they worked wonderfully! I’ll write a separate post about them soon 🙂

Generally, I stick to one rule: the shampoo should be gentle, and the mask should provide intense hydration!

Remember, these recommendations are based on my routine, so always choose products that suit your own hair type and needs 🙂
